Ramadan Is Coming!

(I have a secret to tell you all. I've never seen Game of Thrones and don't have any desire to. However, I couldn't resist the opportunity to reference the classic "Winter is coming!" line)

In all seriousness, Ramadan is just a few days away. As a Muslim, this is a very exciting time of the year. This month within the Islamic calendar is celebrated because it is believed that all scripture was sent down from God during this holy month.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world will be fasting from the time that the sun begins to rise in the morning (also known as fajr) to the time that the sun begins to set in the evening (also known as maghrib). In addition to fasting, there are additional prayers, opportunities to give charity, and much more that goes into celebrating this time.

This year I plan to write various posts all through Ramadan that talks about the different parts of Ramadan, my experiences with it, and so forth. I have some ideas, but I'd also love to hear from all of you. What are some things that you all would like to hear about? Do you have any questions about Ramadan or Muslims in general?
